Brisbane City Enterprises Pty Ltd (BCE) is an Australian company jointly owned by SMEC International and Brisbane City Council, chartered to provide specialist consulting expertise to national and international clients at all levels of government as well as to the commercial sector. BCE's key focus sectors are Governance, Transport & Traffic, Water & Wastewater, and Environment & Waste Management, drawn from the expertise of both government and private practitioners in a range of sectors.  

Since its incorporation in 1996, BCE has contributed to the success of some 160 projects in 29 countries throughout the Asia Pacific, South Asia, Southern Africa and the Middle East regions. Many of these projects have been in the government sector and have been associated with departments, agencies, local government authorities and public utilities. On the world stage BCE has completed assignments for the UNDP, World Bank, ADB and AusAID.

BCE is a commercial entity working in partnership with Brisbane City Council (BCC), Australia's largest local government authority, giving it a unique ability to draw upon the broad resources, expertise and experience of BCC to deliver world-class solutions to the national and international marketplace.

BCE was originally founded in 1996 by BCC to function as a business unit.  Later, in 2005, BCC transferred a majority of BCE shares to the Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation (SMEC), one of Australia’s leading engineering consulting firms with 40 years international experience within in 79 countries.  BCE now has a dual role as a stand alone company pursuing activities in its own right and as SMEC’s Local Government Functional Group.
