BCE advances to Abu Dhabi

BCE in association with SMEC International have been successful in being selected as the preferred consultants for assisting the Department of Municipal Affiars (DMA) in developing a suite of Municpal By-laws and Regulations for the Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Western Region Municipalities.

In late 2009, the Abu Dhabi government advised SMEC International, in partnership with BCE, was successful in obtaining panel status for Management and Municipal Services.  The arrangement is to assist the Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) in developing a suite of Municipal By-laws and Regulations for the Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Western Region Municipalities.

The service order consisted of three lots, of which SMEC/BCE were successful at winning all three.  The areas of interest extend from public spaces to emergency preparedness and response.  This project includes eight Brisbane City Council full time employees along with a range of SMEC and BCE staff from Brisbane and Abu Dhabi.  The project will be implemented over a five month period and has already commenced.

The win is especially significant as Brisbane has a Sister City arrangement with Abu Dhabi (signed February 2, 2009) and the close partnerships of this project will further facilitate the Sister City relationship.  For more information about this project please contact our Governance Specialist, Cynthia Leong.
